Object & Totem
Founded in 2011, by Julianne Ahn, a Textile Design graduate of The Rhode Island School of Design and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Inspired by the nuances of meditative processes such as cording and turning, each product is created by hand with a focus on maintaining its novelty, craft and memory whether functional or an intimate piece of decor. Formerly based in Philadelphia and Berlin, the studio continues to evolve, with a current emphasis on one-of-a-kind vessels and experimental art objects.
All ceramic vessels are intended for either home decoration or tableware. Although dish-washer and microwave safe, I recommend hand washing and air drying for the more delicate styles. For any matte glazed items (which have a tendency to absorb stains easily), gently scrub the exterior with some mild soap or if necessary, a mixture of baking soda and water. Clays and glazes used are all commercial and guaranteed non-toxic and lead-free by manufacturers.
All jewelry is intended for personal accessory and should be handled with care due to the fragility of stoneware and/or delicate fibers. Any hand corded styles should avoid abrasive surfaces in order to prevent fraying or unraveling.
